Centaurs and Robots

My teacher was holding an Animation contest for an old Nickelodean animation desk he had to get rid of before moving, the requirements were to animate a walk and run cycle in a week. I wanted the desk bad (I was tired of animating on a little lightbox from Michaels) so instead of just some dude walking I tried the most complicated thing I could think of at the moment. A Centaur. And here they be!

First we got a walk going

Then we kick it up with a little bit'a run action

All in all I was pretty happy with them, and I guess my teacher was too, I totally won that sweet desk! No more lightbox for me!

Next up on the docket, we have the finalized ROBOT SCULPTURE!

Pencil Test Ahoy!

Hey all, here are a couple more random animations for ya'll to check out!

First here we have my first ever attempt to sync up audio with animation, we were given a Pink Panther model sheet to use for the character and just had to have him playing drums along with the audio in any way we wanted, this is what I came up with! Next

This one here was a double whammy,  we had to have a heavy object AND water splashing effect! CRAZY TALK! so obviously the first thing to come to mind was a Pirate and a Chest into some water

Japanese Robots!

Hey all! Its been a while, I'm a little crazy with trying to graduate but here I gots some new stuff. I am currently in a Advanced Sculpture (for Animation) course and working on a robot design.

We were given descriptions of characters from an Adult Swim show Titan Maximum and are basing our designs and sculpts off the same descriptions from the show.

I am working on the lead Robot Titan Maximum who is made up of 5 space ships (like VOLTRON!) so I went about looking up Japanese super heroes and Robots (the show is a spoof on these series anyways)

Influenced Heavily from The Original Power Rangers I grew up on, along with other early 90's/80's robot cartoons such as Transformers and Voltron - I created this design.

The next step is to start the Armature and building the guy! Here we have him with a base coat on and a basic block in of shapes

Ill keep posting updates on how this guy is coming along!

Stay Tuned!

Talking with God, starring.....GOD!

For a production class, two buddies and I had to come up with an animated short in an 11 week span. The only requirement was that the theme be 'dead celebrities' (this was just after that weird week where it seemed like all our celebrities were dropping dead, Michael Jackson, Billy Mays, Farrah Fawcett, etc). We came up with the idea of God hosting a talk show in heaven and having guests come on. We decided on using Micheal Jackson, Billy Mays and Ed McMahon, along with God and the Devil.

Here are some character concepts I came up with for the production.
We decided to go with my designs for the Devil and Michael Jackson so I whipped up a couple quick turn arounds, Michael Jackson I just went with a more stylized version of himself
and for the Devil we turned him into a sort of Hollywood Agent type character

Here is the animatic created from my storyboards for the short

Annnnnnnnd the final animated short! the animation was done in about 6 weeks or so, I worked on the MJ dance sequence and the bit with the devil at the end. This was my first time really working in Flash, it turned out alright if i say so myself.

Well, it looks like thats it for now, come back for more later!
